"A People Who Care!"
Cynthiana Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Over the centuries, shawls have come to symbolize shelter, peace and spiritual sustenance.  The members of the “Prayer Shawl Ministry Group” will knit and/or crochet prayer shawls for critically ill persons within the church and community.

Those who join the group, whether or not they know how to crochet or knit, will find a project through which they can minister with their creativity and thereby experience personal spiritual growth.  Many who participate in this ministry in other churches report that they often find themselves mediating and praying as they stitch.

This group is open to people who are not members of the Cynthiana Christian Church.  Therefore, it is an ecumenical ministry as well as an invitational ministry whereby others can experience the participation in the caring ministry of the Cynthiana Christian Church.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry of the Cynthiana Christian Church meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Church.  At present we have approximately 10 members and have completed 12 items since our beginning in February 2008.  In September, 2008, we will begin our Knitting, Crochet and Knotted Blanket classes at our meetings.  We invite anyone interested in taking the classes or teaching the classes to sign-up or call any member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.  Sign-up sheets are on the bulletin boards throughout the Church.
